In Case You Missed It: The Biggest Ledsreact Updates of the Year

Over the past year, Ledsreact has quietly rolled out major upgrades across hardware, software, and data processing. From faster setup to richer insights and rock-solid reliability, here's everything you might have missed — and why it matters for your daily workflow.
📱 Mobile Experience, Rebuilt
Reliability and usability got a major lift.
- Live results: See results as they happen. Perfect for competitive drills or testing days — real-time ranks based on time, velocity, and acceleration keep athletes motivated and engaged.
- False start detection: The live results now also show when someone takes a false start (<100ms).
- Solid Connectivity: Better Bluetooth and Wi-Fi reconnection logic, faster scanning, and automatic resume after interruptions.
- Smarter Setup: Skips redundant steps, cutting setup time to under three minutes.
- Faster Navigation: Reduced loading delays, improved caching, and smoother transitions between screens.
- Clearer Guidance: Updated test instructions and removed unnecessary steps.
- Configurable Countdowns: Set the number of countdowns for each test.
- Timeout Detection: Detect if the test is taking too long (e.g. due to a setup error or bad start) and automatically stop it.
đź’» Web Platform Improvements
The web interface evolved into a true performance analysis tool:
- Advanced filtering and export for sessions and players
- Dashboard: comparative charts - player vs. team or historical trend analysis
- Updated session details page with visual differentiation of times with and without reaction
- Live leaderboard display of results
- PDF export of exercise reports
- Pre-define each team's player order so you don't have to manually set it every time
All designed for faster data access and cleaner communication with your athletes.
⏱️ Timing Gates Bias Correction
Every environment is different. Clubs can now fine-tune radar timing bias to align precisely with timing-gate systems, ensuring consistent, research-grade accuracy across all testing conditions.
⚙️ Smarter Data Processing
Behind the scenes, the post-processor has been upgraded for even more accurate analytics:
- Enhanced phase segmentation for sprints and CODs
- Built-in outlier detection and error tolerance
- Exercise and zone-specific metrics (that are yet to be visualized in the dashboard and athlete profiles)
- Optional bias correction applied directly in live results
The result: cleaner curves, better comparisons, and fewer manual adjustments.
🔢 Firmware Evolution
Firmware versions 3.3.0 → 3.6.0 brought critical improvements:
- More configuration options
- Lower latency in live results
- BLE data transfer in case there is no WiFi connection
- Better error tolerance and recovery
Together, these updates make the Ledsreact Pro faster, sharper, and more consistent in all conditions.
🔬 Validation at UGent Biomechanics Lab
Before rolling out firmware and processing improvements, we needed proof they didn't compromise accuracy. So we took the Ledsreact Pro into the University of Ghent's biomechanics lab and validated it against a gold-standard 10-camera Qualisys motion capture system.
Results:
- Total COD time matched to within 1 millisecond
- Concordance correlation coefficient: 0.991 (near-perfect agreement)
- Velocity tracking: CCC 0.948–0.975 (excellent waveform matching)
- Acceleration tracking: CCC 0.902 for average values (strong agreement)
The systematic 97ms difference in return split timing? Pure geometry: Qualisys tracks the sacrum marker (back of the body), while Ledsreact tracks the leading edge. Both systems measure correctly; they just reference different anatomical points.
Bottom line: millisecond-accurate COD measurement, validated in a controlled lab, now deployed in the field and already used for 30,000+ trials worldwide.
🧠What It Means for You
- Faster workflows — less setup, more testing
- Deeper insights — from group dashboards to live leaderboards
- Greater stability — improved firmware and wireless reliability
- Easier integration — with APIs and bias calibration ensuring data parity
In short: fewer technical hurdles, more time for coaching, and a clearer picture of athlete performance.
The next weeks and months promise even more — from video synchronization to expanded analytics. If you haven't updated your firmware or explored the new dashboards yet, now's the time to see how far Ledsreact has come.
